Nubra Valley is one of the least visited areas of Ladakh and thus the beauty of this mesmerizing region is unspoiled. Along the eastern edge of Karakoram Range lies the Nubra Valley. It is situated at an altitude of 10,000 ft above the sea level. Journey towards Nubra Valley is special for several reasons. The beautiful Nubra Valley is accessed only by motor able road in the world traversing the Kardung La that offers stunning views of Saser Spur. The Nubra valley is surrounded by Karakoram in the north and Zanskar range along with principal chain of Himalayas in south. The popular destination of Diskit village is located slightly off the little hamlet of Khalsar in the Nubra Valley. The region is dotted with apricot plantations and is a home to 350 year old Diskit Gompa which is the largest monastery in Nubra Valley. Diskit has number of descent budget accommodations for those who like to spend some relaxing days in natural surroundings. The visitors can also visit Hunder village which is vast stretch of sand. It is famous for double –Humped Bactrian Camels, where the camel safari is very popular among visitors. The other attraction is Hunder Gompa which has a statue of Buddha along with some old murals and frescos. The monastery offer breathtaking views of setting sun. On visiting this Nubra Valley visitors are advised to take necessary eatable and picnic goods along with them as the facilities offered by the places is negligible.
